Your profile, sign-in and two-factor authentication

Name, photo, password, Microsoft sign-in and 2FA.

4 min read

Settings → Profile is your own account, the same whichever organisation you have open. It holds your name and photo, how you sign in, two-factor authentication, the organisations you belong to, your calendar subscriptions and a summary of your alert emails. Your email address is fixed at sign-up — contact support to move to a new one.

  1. 01

    Name and photo

Edit your name, and upload, change or remove your photo. Without a photo, AssetSort shows your initials.

  2. 02

    Password and Microsoft sign-in

Under Sign-in & security, the Password row's Reset password emails you a link to choose a new one (a Microsoft-only account sees Set a password instead, to add one). The Microsoft row connects or disconnects Microsoft sign-in; you can only disconnect it while you also have a password. Signing in with Microsoft on an email that already has a password asks for that password once to link the two.

  3. 03

    Forgot your password?

On the sign-in page choose Forgot your password?, enter your email and choose Send reset link. The link opens a page to set a new password of at least 8 characters; if it has expired, ask for a new one there.

    Set up two-factor authentication

Password accounts can add a second step at sign-in with an authenticator app: choose Set up on the Two-factor authentication row (AssetSort also offers it after your first tour — Set up later asks again in a week on that browser). Choose Get started, scan the QR code with your app, enter the 6-digit code and choose Verify and Enable. You may first be asked to verify your email address or to sign in again. From then on a code is required every time you sign in with your password. Accounts that sign in only with Microsoft show Via SSO — Microsoft handles the second step.

    Lost your authenticator?

There's no self-service recovery for a lost second factor. Contact support: after checking it's really you, we reset it, email you a security notice, and AssetSort offers to set two-factor up again when you next sign in.

Calendar links, alert emails and sessions

Calendar subscriptions lists every renewal-calendar feed you've created, with when each last synced, and revokes them. Alert emails links to your notification settings. For security, you're signed out after an hour without activity; a Still there? warning two minutes before lets you choose Stay signed in.
