B-Stock: spare equipment
Tracking reserve hardware outside the active fleet.

B-Stock is one of the three built-in hardware statuses — Active, B-Stock and Retired — for equipment you're holding as spares rather than actively deploying: decommissioned laptops kept for loaners, surplus stock, and similar. It keeps that equipment out of your in-service counts and out of renewal and spend-by-tag views, while still counting toward your total inventory value.

Turn B-Stock tracking on
B-Stock tracking is an organisation setting. Once it's on, a dedicated B-Stock section appears under Organise in the sidebar and the bulk "move to B-Stock" action becomes available. Organisations that don't resell or hold spares can leave it off and never see it.

Move an item to B-Stock
Open the hardware record, edit it, and set Status to B-Stock — or select several rows in the Hardware list and move them together. Settings → Custom Data → Statuses shows the full status list, including any custom statuses your organisation has added. Devices synced from Microsoft 365 can't have their status changed here; Microsoft owns that field while the connection is live.
