Creating your account and first login

Sign up, verify your email, and land in your workspace.

3 min read

You can create an account from the sign-up page with an email and password, or with your Microsoft account. New accounts start on the Free plan, which is a capped evaluation sandbox: one person, up to 10 hardware items, 10 licences and 10 certificates, and no folders (the Tags page's Add Tag and tag menus are locked too), with the Microsoft 365 integration and the MSP Fleet dashboard reserved for Growth and above. Inviting teammates starts on Starter (up to 5 people per organisation, 10 on Growth, unlimited from Business). Your first workspace is created empty — you add records or connect a tenant yourself. No card is required to start.

  1. 01

    Go to Sign up

Go to /signup. Enter your first and last name, your email and a password of at least 8 characters, then choose Create an account — or choose Sign up with Microsoft to skip the password. Signing up means you agree to the Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy, both linked under the button. While AssetSort is in early access, the sign-up page sends new visitors to the waitlist; if you've been invited to an organisation, open your invitation link instead. Someone who signs in without an invitation or a workspace (with Microsoft, say) sees We're not open just yet, with Join the waitlist and Sign out.

  2. 02

    Verify your email

Confirm your address from the verification email before you start. This applies to Microsoft sign-in too: we send the link the first time you sign in, and you only need to do it once.

  3. 03

    Name your first workspace

Once you've verified, AssetSort asks you to name your workspace: type it under Workspace name and choose Create workspace. That creates a standalone organisation on the Free plan, with you as its owner. It starts empty: the Hardware, Licences, Certificates and People lists are all waiting for their first record, and the welcome tour points you at the fastest way to fill them. If you joined through an invitation, you land in that organisation instead, and can start your own later from the avatar menu → Start your own workspace.

  4. 04

Add your first records, or connect a tenant

Add items by hand with each section's Add Hardware, Add Licence, Add Certificate or Add Person button. If you're on Growth or above, connecting Microsoft 365 (Settings → Integrations) populates Licences, People, Hardware and App Credentials for you — see "Connecting Microsoft 365".

  5. 05

    Secure your sign-in

If you signed up with a password, AssetSort offers to set up two-factor authentication with an authenticator app once the tour closes; Set up later asks again in a week. Accounts that sign in with Microsoft aren't prompted. See "Your profile, sign-in and two-factor authentication".
