Setting up renewal & expiry alerts

The Alerts page is the single triage queue for everything AssetSort is worried about — not just renewals. Twenty-one rules cover hardware (Intune non-compliance, devices dropped from management, end-of-life age, warranty expiry), licences (renewing soon, overdue, unused seats, over-allocation), certificates and app credentials (expiring, expired, no living owner), people (disabled accounts still holding licences, dormant users, accounts Entra flags as at risk), Microsoft 365 sync health, failed security checks, and licences or certificates left dangling on retired hardware. Alerts are grouped by severity — Critical, Warning, Info — with tabs for Open, Acknowledged, Snoozed, Dismissed and Cleared. They're raised and cleared automatically: an alert clears when the underlying data changes, and AssetSort records what changed and who changed it. You can never close one by hand — you can acknowledge it, snooze it, assign it, or dismiss it as won't-fix with a reason.

Open Alerts
Shows how many alerts need attention and how many are critical, with an org filter if you manage more than one organisation.

Act on an alert
Each alert has an actions menu — open the item's details, acknowledge it (pauses email reminders), snooze it for a chosen period, assign it to yourself, or dismiss it as won't-fix with a reason. Tick several rows to do the same to a batch. A snoozed alert reopens by itself when the snooze runs out and the underlying problem is still there. Fixing the item is what clears an alert: as soon as you assign the spare seat, renew the licence or retire the device, the alert clears and the Cleared tab shows who did it and what changed.

What happens when I dismiss an alert?
Dismissing is for conditions that are true but that you have decided not to act on — spare seats kept as a buffer, a device you plan to retire next quarter. The reason you give is kept on the alert and in the item's history. A dismissed alert stops nagging you, but nothing is hidden from reports: the seats are still counted as unused. If the condition later goes away the alert clears on its own and notes that it had been dismissed; if you set a re-surface date it comes back to the Open queue on that day should the condition still hold.

Run a check on demand
"Run check now" re-evaluates every item immediately instead of waiting for the overnight pass. It's available to admins and owners, and is rate-limited per organisation, so it's for confirming a fix rather than for polling.
